This post is based on +Genea Bloggers Friday's Faces from the Past prompt.
My maternal grandfather, Andrew Joseph Pampas, Jr. (1923-1995), served in the Army in World War II. While abroad with the Army, he lived with a host family in Heldenbergen, Germany. This was during the time after the war had ended and the Allied Forces occupied Germany. Based on letters, his host family truly adored him. The photo below shows him with people who were dear to him during his time in Heldenbergen.
